Aquarius lies on the stretch between the well-known sites by the pier and the double reefs. Almost no one comes as a result, while the reef is no lesser than its neighbours. A good choice when Salt Pier or Angel City is full.
Aquarius is an advanced shore dive on the south coast: a reef top at five to seven metres, a slope to thirty-five metres and little visitation.
A reef top at five to seven metres with finger coral and sea fans, dropping to thirty-five metres. Sponges on the slope and black coral in the depths. Schools of grunts along the edge, and foraging rays on the sand.
In moderate current, in the morning. When the better-known sites are full this is the alternative ten minutes' drive away.
No special feature to set the dive apart: this is a good but ordinary reef. Entry over grit, parking on the coast-road verge, no shade, no water, no toilet.
Decisions on diveability, technique and health belong with STINAPA, a dive school or a doctor. This page only describes the conditions.
Between the well-known names, the south coast holds a series of entries that are barely visited. They lie on the same continuous reef; the difference is in the access and the fame, not the quality.
