Bonaventure lies on the west side of Klein Bonaire, where the slope drops away more steeply than on the sheltered side. Large sea fans and black coral stand close together here; the dive calls for attention to depth.
Bonaventure is an advanced boat dive on the west side of Klein Bonaire: a top at five to seven metres and a steep slope with sea fans to thirty-eight metres.
A top at five to seven metres gives way to a steep slope to thirty-eight metres. Large sea fans, vase sponges and black coral on the wall, with trumpetfish and lobster in the overhangs. Jacks along the edge.
In calm sea, when the boat visits the west side. Around midday the light falls most favourably on the slope.
The slope drops away deep fast and dive time is short for it. In swell the boats do not run to this side. Boat only, no facilities on the island.
Decisions on diveability, technique and health belong with STINAPA, a dive school or a doctor. This page only describes the conditions.
The west side of Klein Bonaire lies open to the sea. As a result there is more flow, and the slopes are steeper and more densely grown than on the side facing Bonaire.
