Country Garden is named after the reef top: a field of soft corals that sways in the current and looks from above like a garden. It is a calm dive with no wall or wreck, and precisely for that one of the most pleasant on the north coast.
Country Garden is an advanced shore dive on the north-west coast: a broad reef top with soft corals at five to eight metres and a slope to thirty-five metres.
A broad top at five to eight metres with soft corals, fan coral and scattered brain corals. The slope runs gradually to thirty-five metres with sponges and sea fans. Plenty of juvenile fish on the top, and regularly a turtle passing through.
In light to moderate current, in the morning when the light falls at an angle on the top. In onshore swell the entry is uncomfortable.
No spectacular relief: those after walls should go further south or to Klein Bonaire. The entry goes over rock and grit. Parking on the verge, no shade, no water, no toilet.
Decisions on diveability, technique and health belong with STINAPA, a dive school or a doctor. This page only describes the conditions.
Soft corals are less common on Bonaire than hard coral; they stand mainly on the northern tops where the current is more constant. They are sensitive to touch and to sediment, so stay above the field and keep your fins up.
