Playa Frans lies outside the park, at the end of an unpaved track that appears on no signpost. Almost no one comes, and that is exactly what the place has to offer: an intact reef without company.
Playa Frans is an advanced shore dive on the north-west coast, at the end of an unpaved track: a reef top at four to six metres and a slope to thirty-five metres.
A short sand strip to a reef top at four to six metres with dense finger coral and sea fans. The slope runs to thirty-five metres with sponges and black coral bushes. Jacks along the edge, parrotfish on the top and now and then a turtle.
In flat water and offshore wind. Go with two cars or let someone know where you are: no traffic passes here.
The track is unpaved and narrow; many rental contracts exclude damage on unpaved roads. No reception at some points along the coast. No shade, no water, no toilet, no help nearby.
Decisions on diveability, technique and health belong with STINAPA, a dive school or a doctor. This page only describes the conditions.
The north-west coast between the park and Nukove is barely opened up: a series of tracks runs from the coast road to entries that appear on old maps and not on new ones. That keeps the area quiet and the reef intact.
