Keepsake lies on the sheltered east side of Klein Bonaire, with a shallow top where seagrass and coral run into each other. Little current, plenty of juvenile fish and a good chance of a turtle: one of the calmest dives in the area.
Keepsake is a beginner boat dive on the east side of Klein Bonaire: seagrass at three to four metres, a reef top at six metres and a slope to thirty.
A shallow strip with seagrass at three to four metres, then a reef top at six metres with finger coral and sponges. The slope runs to thirty metres. Green turtles on the grass, pipefish among the blades and schools of juvenile fish above the top.
In calm sea, year round. In the morning, when the turtles graze and the shallow part is clear.
Flat and shallow: no wall, no drama. The seagrass is fragile — do not stand in it, do not drag over it. Boat only, no facilities.
Decisions on diveability, technique and health belong with STINAPA, a dive school or a doctor. This page only describes the conditions.
The seagrass fields around Klein Bonaire are important grazing grounds for green turtles and nurseries for reef fish. They fall under the same protection as the reef itself.
