Leonora's Reef lies on the sheltered north side and is the place where many boat days begin: a short crossing, calm water and a broad top that starts right at the mooring.
Leonora's Reef is a beginner boat dive on the north side of Klein Bonaire: a broad reef top at four to six metres and a gradual slope to thirty metres.
A broad top at four to six metres with finger coral, fan coral and sponges. The slope runs gradually to thirty metres with sea fans. Schools of grunts and parrotfish, and a turtle regularly.
As the first dive of the day, in almost all conditions: this side lies in the lee.
Little of note to see: an ordinary, pleasant slope. When busy, several boats lie on the same stretch. Boat only, no facilities.
Decisions on diveability, technique and health belong with STINAPA, a dive school or a doctor. This page only describes the conditions.
The north side of Klein Bonaire is the dependable side: it lies in the lee of the trade wind and so is almost always diveable. That makes it the default choice when the sea is too rough elsewhere.
